PhoneSoap Cares | How a cold turned into a quadruple amputation for a mother of 6

PhoneSoap had the honor of donating a PhoneSoap 3 and PhoneSoap XL to the family of Tiffany King – a mother of six who underwent a rare quadruple amputation after contracting a cold that eventually turned into pneumonia then sepsis.

Tiffany has a form of arthritis that affects the spine and large joints in the body called Ankylosing Spondylitis. She was taking a medication to treat her arthritis; however, this particular medication weakens the immune system. Tiffany got a cold and that cold turned into a bacterial and viral pneumonia, which placed her into the hospital for 30 days. While in the hospital, she contracted sepsis.

Sepsis is a life-threatening blood infection that lowered Tiffany’s chance of survival from 70% to 15% in a matter of days.

We can only imagine how difficult the past few months have been for the entire family. After enduring the fear of possibly losing their beloved Tiffany, now the family faces astronomical medical bills, the cost of prostheses, and the renovation of their home to accommodate a quadruple amputee.
